We know from the conversations we’ve had with residents in this area that parking pressures and antisocial parking has been a concern.

With some areas adjacent to here now having parking permits, there is some feeling that George Borrow Road and streets off it are experiencing the knock-on effect as cars park here instead. As a result, some residents have indicated they would be in favour of their street becoming part of a Controlled Parking Zone, with permits required to park.

Please let us know you views on this, and other local parking issues, by filling out the survey
below.

We will look at the results on a street-by-street basis to see what the level of support is for pursuing parking permits, and what other parking issues need following up. The evidence base this generates will inform our next steps as we liaise with the relevant authorities. For example, Norfolk County Council is responsible for implementing parking permit schemes and the police and Norwich City Council both have a role in tackling antisocial or illegal parking. We want to find solutions that have the support of the community here.

About parking permits

Making streets in this area a Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ), meaning only cars with a permit can park here (at all times or between set hours), has been suggested by some residents as the solution to parking pressure issues. Only those who live here would be entitled to hold resident and guest permits needed to park. There is a cost to purchasing permits, but some will consider this a price worth paying. You can find out more, including pricing structures, by visiting www.parkingoperations.co.uk/permits/resident-visitor-permits. If you have any questions, please contact one of your University Labour councillors using the details on the front of this leaflet. Norfolk County Council, as the highways authority, is responsible for introducing new controlled parking zones. So, if this was an option the community wanted to pursue, we will be calling on County to carry out the necessary work to scope this fully and find a scheme that works for local people.
