Norwich Labour Party held our CLP (Constituency Labour Party) nominations meeting last Thursday 13 February. Norwich North and Norwich South each voted on their nominations for Leader and for Deputy Leader, and also for CLP and BAME (Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic) representatives for the NEC (National Executive Committee).

Results were as follows:

NORWICH NORTH:

  • LEADER: Rebecca LONG BAILEY
  • DEPUTY LEADER: Richard BURGON
  • CLP REPS ON NEC: Lauren TOWNSEND and Mandy McKENNA
  • BAME REP ON NEC: Omolola Oyewusi

NORWICH SOUTH

  • LEADER: Keir STARMER
  • DEPUTY LEADER: Angela RAYNER
  • CLP REPS ON NEC: Cheryl GODBER and Lauren TOWNSEND
  • BAME REP ON NEC: Omolola Oyewusi

Results were submitted on Friday morning, in advance of the final deadline for nominations.

To be eligible to attend and vote at the meeting, members had to have completed their 8-week probationary period ie joined on or before Thursday 19 December. A total of 171 members attended and voted, 40 from Norwich North and 131 from Norwich South.

Members who joined after 19 December 2019 but on or before 20 January 2020 were not entitled to attend the CLP nominations meeting, but will be able to take part in the final ballot, which will run from 21 February to 2 April.
