VOTE LABOUR: FOR A BETTER FUTURE

The COVID pandemic has shown how damaging more 10 years of deep cuts have been to our public services and just how valuable those services are to us all . Our lives have never been more insecure. Labour has the vision and policies to build a better future. We will:

Defend and rebuild our local services. Labour will begin to reverse a decade of cuts by the Tories, investing in the services we all need: the NHS, public health, schools, libraries, care services, community safety and our leisure and cultural facilities. We will begin to restore children’s centres and youth services.

Build decent homes for all and stand up for private renters. Norwich Labour is delivering 300 new council homes, upgrading properties and building homes for sale. For private renters, a Tenant’s Charter will require private landlords to deliver safe, secure, well-managed and energy efficient housing.

Lead on the environment. Tackling the Climate Emergency will underpin everything we do. Norwich Labour will continue investing in its award winning parks and green spaces; boost recycling, promote energy efficiency and commit to a radical transport plan including a Clean Air Zone in the city centre; introducing electric vehicle charging points.

Keep people safe and secure. We will work with the police to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour as well as the causes of it. We are investing in new mobile CCTV cameras and alley gates to protect residents’ homes and will continue to clamp down on fraudsters and scammers. We will support action to tackle drug crime, domestic abuse and the exploitation of vulnerable people.

Invest in our people and our city. Norwich Labour is investing £70m this year to help the local economy. This means major investments in housing, new skills, training opportunities and new jobs. We will help tackle the Climate Emergency through creating green jobs. We will lead on tackling low pay and insecure work by extending the ‘Real Living Wage’ and a new ‘Fine City Employers Charter’ to encourage good employment practices. We will continue to provide local support for those in financial hardship.
