Campaigns & Volunteering
Norwich Labour Party runs and supports many campaigns throughout the year. The latest – Save Our Children’s Centres – targets Tory controlled Norfolk County Council’s proposal to close 46 of 53 Children’s Centres in Norfolk, leaving just one in each county district. That means only one for the whole of Norwich! The budget is to be cut by £5 million (50%). This service is a lifeline for Norwich families. It cannot be replaced by online support and volunteers.
Many events, organised by Norfolk Labour Group on County Council, have included some widely reported protests in Norwich, Great Yarmouth, Thetford and around the county, plus an online petition. Across the Norwich wards Labour Councillors and activists have taken the petition door-to-door, collecting thousands of signatories in the process.
The consultation closes on Monday 12th November 2018. Email your views to HaveYourSay@norfolk.gov.uk.
Following the roll-out of Universal Credit across Norwich last month, Norwich Labour will be joining campaigning at events across the city in the coming months. Campaigning also continues throughout the year with regular canvassing sessions and leafleting in your ward. Many thanks to all volunteers that help with our campaigns.
