Labour-run Norwich City Council has launched the public consultation for its forthcoming Parks and Green Spaces Strategy. This document will underpin the council’s approach to maintaining, enhancing and investing in its parks, open spaces and recreation facilities for the next ten years.
If you use any of the city’s parks and green spaces, please take a few minutes to fill out the survey: https://gettalking.norwich.gov.uk/parks
Norwich has:
- 101 parks, gardens and green spaces
- 2 cemeteries
- 18 allotments
- 81 playgrounds
- Several outdoor sports pitches and facilities
These are maintained by the council, Norwich Fringe Project and Norwich City Services Ltd., with help from fantastic Friends and gardening groups. The Parks and Green Spaces Strategy will look at how we can best manage different kinds of space, what can be done to promote accessibility for all and how the council can use its limited resource to maximise opportunity.
Cllr Emma Hampton, cabinet member for climate change, says:
“We’re really fortunate to have lots of high-quality parks and open spaces across our city, which I know are of huge value to residents. There’s lots to be proud of, and the Labour council has invested millions in maintenance and upgrades, but we know there are still improvements to be made. We want to hear from as many people as possible so our parks truly meet the needs of communities in Norwich.”
