News that Norwich’s walk-in centre is once again under threat will be of huge concern to residents across the city.
Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care Board, who manage health services in this area, have launched a consultation proposing two different options for the walk-in centre: closing it altogether, or slashing its opening hours so the service is available for just four hours a day.
We successfully fought to save the centre in 2023, and will do all we can again to make sure this vital hub remains available for local people.
Alice Macdonald, Labour MP for Norwich North, says: “I am shocked that after our city came together to save our NHS walk-in centre, a proposal to close it is once again on the table. My constituents deserve excellent primary care, and a city-based walk-in centre that is both accessible and free at the point of use.”
Clive Lewis MP, Labour MP for Norwich South, says: “I will fight these proposed cuts. It is well-used and helps prevent people from getting so ill they need far more intensive care later on, putting even more strain on our health and care systems.”
