Norfolk Fire Service Petition
Cuts to the fire service are wrong and dangerous during normal times, and they are even more so as we emerge from the pandemic and now face the ever growing threats of climate change and the coming cost of living crisis this autumn. Cuts to the service will lead to increased response times and hamper firefighters’ ability to carry out this work and other life-saving work. This will negatively impact not only the public’s safety, but also that of firefighters. All of the additional work being undertaken by firefighters follows years of cuts to the service. 11,500 firefighter posts have been lost nationally since 2010, which has added pressure to an already-overstretched service. After years of austerity, our fire service needs investment, not further cuts. Firefighters and residents in Norfolk deserve better. We support the Norfolk Labour’s petition.
