I’m Rachel and I am standing to be your Norwich City Councillor for Lakenham.  I love living in and being an activist for here, it is a vibrant and friendly area with many green spaces and open areas. I have volunteered at Junior Parkrun at Lea Bridges park and litter picks on the Lakenham Way and feel proud to be able to put something back into this community.

Most recently I have helped to set up a new food bank in the area, delivering emergency food parcels to residents in need.  We should not need foodbanks, but thanks to Tory cuts, they are becoming more and more common here.

I have lived in Norwich for 25 years and my children have grown up here. As a single mum I have been at the receiving end of the Tory cuts and feel very strongly that we need a Labour government so that we can bring back working and family tax credits after the disastrous roll-out of Universal Credit.

I enjoy canvassing in our area and talking to local residents.  The issues that come up are fly tipping, CCTV on the Lakenham Way and the need to bring back a bus service to Theobald Road near Asda – all issues that I will do everything I can to resolve if I am elected as City Councillor.  The Lakenham City and County team are a lovely group who have lived in the area for many years.  I speak daily with the other Councillors about issues raised  and our number one priority is to make Lakenham an EVEN better place!
