Make 20mph the default speed limit in University Ward and across Norwich

We’re urging Norfolk County Council to make 20mph the default speed limit on residential roads in University Ward and across Norwich.

Reducing speed limits to 20mph has been shown to reduce the risk and severity of accidents, ease traffic flow and make roads more walking and cycling friendly.

Your University Labour councillors have been working with the local police to target speeding hotspots. At the most recent SNAP (Safer Neighbourhood Action Panel) meeting for this area, and following feedback from residents, we were able to secure speeding in University Ward as a policing priority. We’ve also been able to deliver practical measures like the new flashing speed awareness sign on Cunningham Road. But we know the issue of speeding is more widespread, and we need Conservative-led Norfolk County Council to step up and help us tackle it.
